Spotlight on Luna Lifestyle

Imagine a brand passionate about community as well as putting consumers first. Co-founders, Kim Nxumalo-Henwood and Seria Masilela have created just that. Launched in the Kingdom of Eswatini, their products offer effective, organic solutions for afro, coily & curly hair types and all skin.

Q –  Tell us about your brand and what your roles are

A – Luna Lifestyle is an Eswatini based beauty brand that was created with the intention of bringing empowerment, excellence, luxury and clean beauty into the daily routines of women of colour.  We are committed to the use of authentic and ethically sourced natural ingredients that gently hydrate and nourish the hair and skin to assist our customers in achieving their hair and skin goals.

Q – Which need does your brand meet?

A – Our brand fulfills the need for the provision of education, representation and effective hair care and skin care products for women of colour created locally.

Q – How have you learnt to work together as a team?

Q – What are some of the challenges of being in the beauty / natural hair care industry?

A – Our biggest challenge as a small local brand is that we are in direct competition with large chain stores

Q – How do you handle adversity and doubt?

A – The best way to overcome adversity and doubt is by having a humble spirit and focusing on producing high quality work. If your focus is on your work and not yourself you won’t have a problem with doubt or any other outside factors. Also being in a partnership helps because you can motivate each other.

Q – Mention some highlights you have experienced

A – Our biggest highlight we’ve had so far was starting our own line of products that we love and are made locally.

Q –  If you could give yourselves advice before you started, what would it be?

A – Focus on excellence whatever you create.

Q – Where do you see your brand in 5 years time?

A – In 5 years’ time we hope to be having our factory established and producing our products on a mass scale
